How does the internet change the audience?

Hamsa and I was investigating how many hours of music does the people in our media class listen to. Our research findings highlight that our sample group on average spends 3-5 hours listening to music. The reasons for this could be is that our sample group is our media class, which may convey that we are more likely to listen to music as we are media students and therefore it is work related.  Notably, as we are teenagers majority of us listen to music to help us revise for our studies during lessons or at home. Moreover, there has been a developement in technology which conveys that our sample group can easily access music by going on to social networking sites such as Youtube. Furthermore, after watching the Kanas State University Study video we found out that an individual listens to music only for 2.5 hours a day. In comparison to our data our sample group listens to more music compared to the university students.

Differences

  • The university students may less likely to listen to music due to their studies or perhaps they rather be on social networking sites such as Facebook. Whereas, our sample group are teenagers and therefore the age difference  may be the reason why we listen to music more.
  • The video was taken in 2007 and we are investigating this question in 2013 which could suggest that there have been a change in development over the time period, which has made our generation listen to music more.
  • The university students in the video may not be media students and therefore they may less likey to listen to music as much as our sample group as we are media students. This suggest that work related could be one reason why our sample group listens to music more.
Similarities

  • The university students and our sample group are in education and therefore they could listen to music for different reason. For instance, our sample group may listen to music more because it is work related where as, the university students could also listen to music for work related and possibly for entertainment.
  • The univeristy students may not have much time to listen to music in their free time due to work.
